Jared Allen, Antoine Winfield and Bryant McKinnie have been named alternates at their respective positions for the 2011 Pro Bowl.
There’s no doubt that Antoine Winfield deserved to be recognized for his 2010 performance. He was the anchor of the cornerbacks and had a tremendous season, culminated by his incredible performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jared Allen got off to a slow start, but ended the year strong, including a pick-6 returned for a touchdown, which put him at 1 more TD than Bernard Berrian.
Frankly, I have no idea why Bryant McKinnie was selected as an alternate. After embarrassing the franchise last year with his behavior and subsequent dismissal from the NFC team – not to mention the 2005 Love Boat fiasco – there’s no way he should have been recognized this year. Nevertheless, he was 4th overall for Left Tackle voting. I don’t know who was voting for him, but I know it wasn’t me. I hope, if he is called upon to play, he will comport himself in a manner that reflects well on the Vikings organization this year.
Congratulations to all 3 players for receiving this recognition.
