Cedric Griffin Wins Ed Bloch Courage Award

Congratulations to Cedric Griffin for winning this year’s winner of the Ed Bloch Courage Award for the Vikings.

During the NFC Championship game in January 2010, Cedric Griffin was injured during the game, tearing the ACL on his left knee. 8 months later, 3 games into the 2010 season, Griffin made his return and our secondary was better for it… for 7 quarters, until he was injured again, tearing the ACL in his right knee during the Jets/Vikings game.

It was a devastating blow to Griffin and the team. But Cedric Griffin is full-steam-ahead on his recovery and will move out of the pool, where he’s been running, and onto the field in a leg brace to complete his recovery.

Griffin is optimistic that he’ll come back from this very serious injury and will be ready for the 2011 season.

Will he be able to produce the way he did prior to his original injury? With 2 surgically repaired knees, will he be able to keep up with receivers on man to man coverage? Only time will tell, but based on his recovery from the NFCCG injury, Griffin’s determination will be the deciding factor in my opinion. It’s obvious that his teammates think he has what it takes. Do you?
