I’ve been on hiatus for a bit. I’m in the middle of a huge project at work and that has to take priority – even though writing is more fun. I don’t believe I’ve missed too much while I was busy with my real life. I have some thoughts about Everson Griffen, which I’ll leave for another post.
This post is about Madieu Williams, who was announced as this year’s Walter Payton Man of the Year for his charity work. Most notably his $2 Million donation to the University of Maryland in 2010.
True to form, Williams wasn’t present to accept his award today as he’s in Iraq visiting US Troops. While Vikings fans aren’t always pleased with the angles he takes on the field, no one would dispute the fact that he’s very generous with his time and money. He’s the type of player the Vikings’ organization and the fans can be proud of off the field – and frankly, I think that’s as important as performance on the field.
Congratulations to Madieu Williams for winning this award and for representing the Vikings in a positive light.
